Calculator
Volumetric weight pertains to the total dimensions of a package and is expressed in volumetric kilograms. The calculation involves multiplying the parcel’s length, width, and height (in centimeters) and then dividing the result by 6000 for domestic shipments or by 5000 for international shipments.
What is the Purpose?
Volumetric weight serves as a critical method for loading freight in various transportation modes, such as air freight, courier services, and postal operations. The necessity of calculating volumetric weight arises from several reasons:
- Adherence to TACT Rules, Section 8.2.
- Application of accurate shipping rates.
- Assurance of sufficient space during the shipping process.
The volume occupied by the payload in a cargo hold or compartment is constrained and relies on the internal dimensions of the transportation vehicle. Volume constitutes an additional constraint in the transportation of cargo.
